National HIV Testing Week 22-29 November 2014
There are nearly 110,000 people living with HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) in the UK. Nearly a 1/4 of these are unaware of their infection and at risk of passing on the virus to others through unprotected sex.
There are certain groups in the population who are at greater risk of HIV infection, namely gay and bisexual men and people from certain black and ethnic communities. THT is providing a free postal HIV testing service to people in higher risk groups. Check out IT STARTS WITH ME for more information on how to order a free HIV test.
Free HIV testing is available from all Sexual Health Services. Use find services to find a clinic close to you or call 0300 300 2016. You can also have a free HIV test from your family doctor (GP).
Visit HIV Lives to find out about local HIV testing events, testing information and how to access free condoms in Hampshire, Southampton & Portsmouth.
- Used correctly and consistently condoms remain an effective way to prevent HIV.
